During the Extended 45th session of the World Heritage Committee in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the International Council on Monuments and Sites, the State Administration of Culture Heritage of China, and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality co-hosted a themed side event on "Digital Empowerment of Cultural Heritage." Lazare Eloundou Assomo, director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Li Qun, vice minister of culture and tourism of the People’s Republic of China and administrator of the State Administration of Culture Heritage, and Tan Xuxiang, vice mayor of Beijing, attended the event and delivered speeches.

Vietnam and South Africa celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations in September, the month in which South Africans celebrate their heritage. Vietnam also celebrates the 78th Anniversary of 2nd September 1945 when President Ho Chi Minh declared independence from France. To mark this milestone Vietnam dispatched their Vice President H.E Madam Vo Thi Anh Xuan on an official visit to meet with South African Vice-President Paul Mashatile to further strengthen ties of friendship and solidarity and deepen social and economic exchanges between the two nations.

Trinidad and Tobago's Official Residence in Pretoria, South Africa was all decked in red to celebrate the 61st anniversary since the departure of the colonialists. Dr Lovell Francis, High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago to South Africa hosted a celebration in Pretoria under a rare full blue moon to mark this milestone. Francis said that he views South Africa as his home, and that Trinidad and Tobago was invested in South Africa long before it was a country. And this bond of friendship is ever growing and strengthening.
