The KALOOB (pronounced kalo-ób)  Philippine Music and Dance Ministry regaled its audience with a journey, not only to the Philippines, but also through time. The afternoon performance took place at the Aula Theatre at the University of Pretoria in celebration of 30 years of diplomatic relations between Philippines and South Africa.

Kazakhstan, despite its geographic distance from South Africa, has emerged as an attractive hub for investment and business prospects, as highlighted in the recent seminar titled ‘Kazakhstan: A Country of Opportunity’ held at the Al Ghazali College Community Hall in Erasmia, Pretoria. Co-organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan, the Minara Chamber of Commerce, and the International Knowledge Foundation of South Africa, the seminar served as a platform to shed light on the various investment avenues available in this vast Central Asian nation.

Nelson Mandela lifted the first Rugby World Cup Webb Ellis trophy held in South Africa in 1995, a year after the country’s first democratic elections in 1994. As the country looks forward to celebrating three decades of transition from a country that witnessed some of the worst crimes against humanity, its record fourth Rugby World Cup triumph is a definitive sign of how far it has come. The vision of Mandela and the founding icons of freedom in South Africa is gaining new significance as people grapple with the challenges of building a united and powerful nation as envisaged by those visionaries.

On November 30, Ambassador Chen Xiaodong attended the handover ceremony of the first batch of power equipment from China to South Africa at the invitation of Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, South Africa’s Minister of Power in Pietermaritzburg, Kwazulu-Natal. About 300 people attended the ceremony, including Minister Ramokgopa, Deputy Minister of Health Dhlomo, Consul General Li Zhigong of the Chinese Consulate General in Durban and representatives from all walks of life in South Africa.
