CGTN Celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival with Grand Gala Celebration

6 October 2025

The Diplomatic Society wishes the Chinese people a happy Mid-Autumn Festival. The link above is part of the celebrations of China Media Group (CMG) which features music, song and dance, old and new, focusing on family reunion and the home at the time of the full moon. The festival also celebrates China's 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War against fascism among other milestones.

The Gala is currently being broadcast simultaneously to a global audience on various media platforms as well as on social media allowing audiences across the globe to share in the festivities.

The festival is China's second largest holiday after Chinese New Year. The moon appears at its fullest and brightest on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month when the main harvest has just ended and the celebration marks thanks giving for abundance and renewal.

And no Mid-Autumn Festival is complete without the sweetness of the mooncake. This ancient celebration is a reminder that even in a high tech, fast changing world, the warmth of connection and gratitude endure and that even though people may be far apart, they are brought closer as they look up at the same sky.
