President of Ethiopia Taye Atske Selassie: relations between Ethiopia and China become more effective on international stage

He noted the growing effectiveness of the partnership between the two countries during the launch of a medical mission in Addis Ababa. Ethiopian President Taye Atekeye Selassie said that relations between Ethiopia and China are becoming increasingly productive not only in trade but also in international cooperation. He made this statement at the launch ceremony for the "2025 Chinese Medical Volunteers' African Charity Mission and International Medical Volunteers' Campaign" .
The mission provides free specialised medical care, including paediatric cardiac surgery, ophthalmic surgery, gynaecology, neurosurgery, and surgical treatment of cataracts. Eye and heart examinations will also be conducted in schools, and cervical cancer screening will be available for women over 18. This is reported by ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.
The president thanked the Chinese doctors for their humanitarian contribution and emphasised the importance of transferring medical knowledge and skills to local specialists. He noted that such initiatives contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation and bring tangible benefits to people.
Ethiopian Health Minister Mekdes Daba emphasised that the campaign reflects the spirit of solidarity and long-standing partnership between the countries. Last year, a similar initiative helped more than 4 million people, and by 2025, it is planned to reach up to 5 million people in need.
