Mandela Day activities in Antananarivo

On the occasion of Mandela Day the South African Embassy in Antananarivo, Madagascar endeavoured to promote and spread the legacy and teachings of{besps}stories/madibamadagascar|width=350|height=300|align=4{/besps} Nelson Mandela, the Embassy distributed school kits, blankets, and hosted 80 senior citizens.

The Embassy staff served 150 children under 13 years old and 50 aged person with lunch and refreshments at the premises of the Chancellery.

To achieve this, the Embassy partnered with local sponsors in the business sector and encouraged an ongoing participation in the annual celebration of this day.  

The Embassy also collaborated with a local gallery in organising a week of activities around Mandela ia Film projections, a Book and Photo Exhibition and discussions on the Legacy of President Mandela and the struggle for democracy.
