Mandela Day in Caracas, Venezuela

July 18, internationally recognised as Nelson Mandela Day, was celebrated internationally. In Caracas, the South African Embassy chose to do their community service, at a Home for children from troubled homes called Bambi. In this Home, children of ages between 2 years and 12 years, are looked after by a group of social and community workers, many of whom are volunteers. The programme is a very successful one as on many occasions, many of the children are eventually reunited with their parents.

Aspen sponsored fans, which were fitted in the rooms of the children, and also, sponsored a party for the children. The South African Embassy assisted with fixing the broken toilets and benches of the children’s Home. All in all, it was a very successful and happy day for all.
