Uruguayan Writer Fernanda Trías Wins the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Literature Prize for the Second Time

The Embassy of Uruguay is pleased to announce that acclaimed Uruguayan writer Fernanda Trías has once again made history at the Guadalajara International Book Fair (Mexico).
Four years after receiving the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Literature Prize for her celebrated novel Mugre rosa, Trías has been honored once again with this prestigious award, this time for her latest work, El monte de las furias.
The jury, composed of Giselle Etcheverry Walker, Patricia Córdova Abundis, and Julián Herbert, unanimously selected Trías “for being a novel rooted in the Latin American narrative tradition, reconfiguring it through an exceptional female perspective full of discoveries and nuances.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay proudly celebrates this new distinction, congratulating the author, now a two-time recipient of the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize, for her outstanding literary achievement with El monte de las furias.
This recognition reaffirms the significance of Trías’s unique literary voice, marked by a lucid, poetic, and deeply human vision of relationships, memory, and the transformations of the contemporary world.
