Khaled El-Enany Elected Director-General of UNESCO

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, extends his sincere congratulations to Khaled El-Enany, former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Arab Republic of Egypt, on his election as Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Youssouf applauds El-Enany’s exemplary track record in leadership and public service, particularly in the fields of culture, education, and heritage. He expresses his strong confidence in El-Enany’s ability to lead UNESCO with vision and dedication at a time when international cooperation is more essential than ever.

He further emphasizes the shared ambition to accelerate the implementation of both the African Union’s Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want, and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
