Georgia’s Independence Day 2019

On 23 May 2019, Georgia’s Independence Day was celebrated in Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa. The Reception was hosted by the Embassy of Georgia in Pretoria. The representatives of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), other South African Governmental institutions, diplomatic corps accredited in South Africa, educational Institutions, think tanks, business circles, members of South African Georgia Chamber of Commerce (SAGCC), friends of Georgia and Georgian citizens residing in South Africa attended the reception.

Mr. Marius Heyns, the Chairman of Southern Africa Georgia Chamber of Commerce was the Master of Ceremony (MC) during the evening, which commenced with the National Anthem of Georgia and National Anthem of South Africa.

During this memorable occassion, H.E. Mr. Beka Dvali, Ambassador of Georgia in South Africa addressed the audience and was followed by congratulatory remarks from the official representatives of South African Government Mrs. Linda Shongwe, Chief Director for Central and Eastern Europe, Nordic and Baltic Countries of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO).

During the evening, the audience had the pleasure of being entertained by a renowned Georgian singer Giorgi Sukhitashvili, who performed popular Georgian music compositions and songs.
