25 August 2017

Following the successful promotion of the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme offered by the Hungarian Government, more than 80 South African students will start their studies at Hungarian higher education institutions in the academic year 2017/2018 starting on the 1st of September in Hungary. A further 100-100 students will have the opportunity to study in English language BA/MA/PhD courses in Hungary starting in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

On this occasion Ambassador of Hungary, HE Mr András László Király hosted a garden reception at his Residence inviting the scholarship granted students.

Some South Africans were previously trained in Hungary during the 1970`s as part of a similar scholarship programme, which has now been revived.

Ambassador Király encouraged students to make the most of the opportunity.

The Director General of the Department of Higher Education and Training of South Africa, Mr Gwebinkundla Qonde expressed his gratitude to the Hungarian Government for its role in developing the much needed human capacity in South Africa as it faces the challenges of an inclusive economy.
