South Africa satisfied with Zimbabwe's progress
The Ministers Simbarashe Mumbengegwi of Zimbabwe and Maite Nkoana-Mashabane of South Africa reiterated the call for the immediate and unconditional removal of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the West during the 4th Session of the South Africa-Zimbabwe Joint Commission for Cooperation that was held in Pretoria, South Africa from 28 to 30 October 2012.

South Africa is satisfied with the political progress in Zimbabwe ahead of an impending election in that country, International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane said in Pretoria.
"When you are dealing with a political matter, you need all the modalities in place that will allow you to do the things you want to do and in Zimbabwe, they have been doing this," Nkoana-Mashabane said after a meeting with Zimbabwe's Foreign Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi.

She said South Africa remained committed to working with the people of Zimbabwe to ensure the full implementation of the Global Political Agreement, signed by key political players in Zimbabwe in 2008.

Zimbabwe's government plans to hold a constitutional referendum soon that will pave the way for fresh elections early in 2013.

President Jacob Zuma hosted a special National Orders ceremony and bestowed the Order of the Companions of OR Tambo to eminent foreign nationals.
This was part of honouring the legacy of national hero and icon, former ANC President Oliver Reginald Tambo, after whom the National Order is named.
The Companions of OR Tambo Order is awarded to foreign nationals and other foreign dignitaries for friendship shown to South Africa and its people. It is an Order of peace, co-operation and active expression of solidarity and support.
The Order also constitutes an essential pillar of international and multilateral relations.
All the foreign nationals who were awarded this prestigious award have played a significant part in the dismantling of apartheid in South Africa through lobbying the international community to take a stand against the oppression of South African people.
