It seems that an overwhelming majority of South Africans are capitalists. They want to enjoy the good things in life - nice cars, luxury residences, good food and obviously great quality clothing  - ask any retailer or your average South African. In fact, all of the above commodities are easily found in South Africa. The raw materials for these products are abundantly available here and South Africa produces some of the world's best quality food.

The South African Fashion Week hosted in Rosebank recently is certainly an event that showcases the best design talent that South Africa has to offer.

Dion Chang, a leading South African trend expert makes insightful observations into a complex and dynamic South African society. The example of a teenager in the rural villages having the same access to digital media via a smartphone as a teenager living in the suburbs or in the city makes a trends busting statement on 'neat segmentation based purely on purchasing power,' says Chang.

Fashion shows like these are potential for huge investments, income generation, innovation in manufacturing and creating work for everyone from the semi skilled to the highly technical.

 

 

German Ambassador Freitag addresses guests at the 22nd Anniversary of the reunification of Germany. He was joined by South African Minister of Intelligence, Siyabonga Cele, at the celebration of this occasion in Pretoria on October 3.

Suriname wins at the Diplomatic Fair

The Embassy of Suriname in South Africa were the winners for ‘Best Stall’ as well as ‘Most Interactive Stall’ at the Diplomatic Fair recently held in Pretoria. Pictured are Dr. Wilfried Ramon Roseval, Ambassador of the Republic Suriname to South Africa and Mrs. Lilian Shanti Roseval.
