World's First Carbon Neutral Mine
The First Carbon Neutral Mining Company in the World – Staten Island Trading, a South African (BEE) alluvial diamond mining company aims to become the first carbon neutral mining holding company worldwide, an ambitious challenge for not only itself, but for all in the mining industry. When asked what this actually means, the company’s CEO, Navin Naidoo says “We will endeavour to become the first carbon neutral mining company, if we are not the first, we hope to inspire other companies to follow suit regardless.” The huge amount of energy expenditure in the mining industry means that this is by no means a small challenge. Investing, funding and the promotion of social development projects, environmental projects, energy conservation projects and renewable energy projects will enable the company to offset carbon emissions and grid electricity usage at its flagship investment, Mat Roux and Sons Diamond Mining.

 Dr. Wilfried Liehr, the Country Director of GIZ Sri Lanka and the Maldives in an interview: pointed out “Our mandate in Sri Lanka and the Maldives is to work on a basis to support the people to shape their own future and to improve their own living conditions. Unlock your Mind with Martial Arts
 Buster Sefor, President of the South African Kendo Federation presented a seminar on "The Stuck Mind” - how to unlock your mind using martial arts as a way of thinking. The seminar drew from the philosophy of the famous Japanese monk and zen master, Takuan Soho, who advised the swordsmen of the day on the influence of the mind over their swordsmanship. His teachings from the early part of the 17th century resonate with corporate warriors of the present time and are relevant to both one’s personal and business life.
