Ambassador and Mrs Toshiro Ozawa of Japan to South Africa hosted a reception in celebration of the Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. On this special occasion Ambassador Ozawa conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon on Dr Samuel Motsuenyane, former President of the National Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NAFCOC) for his contribution to enhancing economic relations between Japan and South Africa.
KZN Premier Dr Zweli Mkhize and members of the KZN Government accompanied Zulu Monarch, King Goodwill Zwelithini in observing one of the Zulu nation’s sacred rituals, Umkhosi WoSelwa.
This ancient ritual, previously known as Umkhosi Wokwe Shwama (First Fruit Ceremony), was also attended by Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi and amabutho.
“I would like to thank amabutho for coming in their numbers to observe one of the most important aspects of our culture,” said His Majesty.
He called on more amabutho to attend this sacred ritual, as it forms an intergral part of the Zulu customs and culture.
