Percy Koji, CEO of TWC with other travel specialists exploring Limpopo's Mopani region
Travel with Confidence (TWC) CEO Percy Koji participated in a Trade Mission to South Africa’s Limpopo Province which hosted over 20 travel and tourism companies. They were hosted by the Limpopo Tourism Agency to create greater awareness of the Mopani region, South Africa’s north most province that border the Kruger National Park, the world-renowned nature reserve and sought-after safari destination. According to Koji a ‘Sho’t Left’ , which roughly translates into taking a break, vacation, to make a detour and explore, is what his company TWC has been promoting in its 19 years of operation. The company offers a full range of packages for inbound and outbound travelers. The Mopani region, which offers a variety of opportunities for tourists seeking diverse experiences from game viewing, adventure and sports, business or leisure, art and culture, health and wellness, offers a complete package for the intrepid traveler.

Ambassador Ahmed Elfadly hosted a reception to commemorate Egypt’s national day at House of Egypt in Pretoria on 23 July 2024. It was the 1952 Revolution led by the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser that was a major catalyst in asserting the Arab identity of Egypt, then enhancing her African identity in the 1950s, while leading a policy of non-alignment amidst the Cold War as of the 1960s, said Elfadly. “In this context, Egypt was a leading force behind the Pan-Arab, Pan-African and Non-Aligned Movements, supporting liberation movements throughout the Arab world and the African continent.” Addressing guests Elfadly outlined Egypt’s position in Africa and in the world. He detailed the strong relationship between Egypt and South Africa which is flourishing on all fronts. Speaking about the current state of the globe Elfadly said, “The resources disbursed and efforts consumed to trigger or sustain conflicts in our own African continent and beyond would have created a global paradise of prosperity if spent otherwise, on developing a truly global village, had we recognized that our power is in our unity, and that our unity is in our diversity.”
Burundi celebrates 62nd Independence Anniversary

The 62nd anniversary of independence of Burundi was celebrated in Pretoria, South Africa on 1 July. In a celebratory atmosphere guests were welcomed by Ambassador Alexis Bukuru and the rhythmic beats of Burundian drummers. Also gracing the occasion were Burundian Parliamentarians who were in South Africa to attend the 3rd Ordinary Session of the Sixth Pan-African Parliament in Midrand, held from 24 June to 5 July 2024. Bukuru paid tribute to Prince Louis Rwagasore who was instrumental in freeing Burundi from colonial rule. Rwagasore, was an aristocrat and was said to be a democrat whose aim was to unite Burundi’s different ethnic groups – the Hutus, Tutsi and Gangwas – in true independence from Belgium, the colonial power since 1918. At age 29 he was assassinated 16 days after successfully winning elections in a free Burundi.

The China Media Group (CMG) forum held at the University of Johannesburg on 24 July unpacked the outcomes of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). President Xi Jinping in his address set in motion reforms that have sparked what is being called, China’s second revolution since the policy of opening the country up in the 1970’s by Deng Xiaoping. Over 2000 reforms have been introduced and implemented in the last decade since President Xi took office as the General Secretary of the CPC and Chair of the Central Military Commission (CMC). Newly designated Ambassador of China to South Africa Wu Peng spoke of embracing a new journey, a journey that is moving China into high quality production for a market with socialist characteristics that include a 400 million middle class which is poised to double in the coming decade. He pointed out the four clear signals that will enhance and prioritize the quality of China’s growth and advancement through assigning new tasks that will further improve the capacity and capabilities of institutions in all aspects after 40 years of reform. With greater inputs in research and development, the reality of China’s modernization will open a world class business market.

The term “bamboo diplomacy” was first mentioned by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong during the first-ever National Conference on Foreign Affairs, held in Hanoi on December 14, 2021. It sums up and symbolises the foreign policy the Communist Party of Vietnam has been implementing, that has made important contributions to the country’s overall development achievements. The attainment of Vietnam’s diplomatic affairs in recent years are attributable to the efforts of Party, entire people and entire army, of which the most important and decisive factor is the direct and comprehensive leadership of the Party, headed by General Secretary Trong.

PARIS, (Xinhua) -- After a century-long wait, Paris welcomes back the Olympic Games with a splashy and "Seine-sational" opening ceremony, making itself a truly moveable feast. French President Emmanuel Macron declared the Games open before the waterborne ceremony reached its climax when Teddy Riner and Marie-Jose Perec lit the cauldron with the Olympic flame. The iconic River Seine glistened with cheers and shouts around 7:30pm when the audacious Paris Olympics opening ceremony, featuring global sports stars parading on a flotilla, was finally brought on stream. The French capital, dubbed by Ernest Hemingway as "a moveable feast," was in full flow, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the city's previous Olympic Games and the last edition under the presidency of Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympics.
