The Embassy of Poland in South Africa celebrated the 105th anniversary of regaining Independence with a musical performance by the Charl du Plessis Trio. The uplifting concert was warmly received by the audience which included members of the diplomatic corps and friends of Poland. This award-winning South African Trio was formed in 2006.

Alexander Schallenberg, Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs and South African Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa opened the new Austrian Cultural Forum at a reception in Pretoria hosted by Austrian Ambassador to South Africa Romana Königsbrun. An MOU was also signed between Ministers Schallenberg and Kodwa to deepen cultural and scientific cooperation.
Ayla: The Daughter of War

The Turkish Embassy together with the Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) in Pretoria and the Johannesburg based Yunus Emre Institute collaborated in hosting the screening of the Turkish film, ‘Ayla: The Daughter of War’ at the KCC precinct to commemorate Türkiye’s 100 year anniversary. Turkish Ambassador to South Africa, Ayşegül Kandaş, introducing guests to the film spoke about the selflessness of the Turkish soldiers who fought to secure freedom and democracy on the Korean peninsula. She said that the Turkish troops provided shelter to the Korean children who had lost their families in the tragic war and later established a school called Ankara to provide preliminary education for those children. The school lasted even after the war.

In August of this year, Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China and Chair of the Communist Party of China, marked a historic moment with his fourth visit to South Africa. This visit symbolized the deep, comprehensive, and expansive relations that have flourished between these nations over the past 25 years. As 2023 draws to a close, Ambassador Chen Xiandong, China's Ambassador to South Africa, hosted a celebratory event on December 12th, recognizing the key stakeholders who played pivotal roles in establishing and nurturing the diverse, dynamic, and substantial relations between these two countries.
