All the continents of the world were represented at Sefako Makgatho Guest House in Tshwane as Heads of Mission presented their Letters of Credence to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, officially beginning their tour of duty. Ramaphosa said that South Africa has always endeavoured to maintain friendly relations with all countries and that it firmly believes in the indivisible unity of humanity and share a responsibility to continuously strive to settle differences between countries peacefully and permanently. Speaking about Africa Ramaphosa said, “The African Continental Free Trade Area is very much aligned with South Africa’s economic growth and development strategy, which places emphasis on regional and continental integration. Therefore, the benefits for Africa is immense as it will also create conditions for greater flows of trade and investment between Africa and the rest of the world.”

African thinking, African knowledge, African solutions and African resources are the key words that African leaders are using in their messaging as they strive to be effective in addressing and creating conducive conditions for the continent to develop and thrive, and help Africans to reap the benefits of the continent’s abundant natural resources - tens of thousands of kilometres of coastline and millions of cubic kilometres of ocean water, tens of millions of hectares of land and real estate, a sky full of stars and sunshine, and energy in all its manifestations.

“Saudi Arabia remains a shining example of what can be achieved through unity and determination,” said H.E. Sultan Abdullah Al Lwihan Al Angari, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to South Africa. He was speaking at a reception to celebrate the Founding Day of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom’s rich history, culture and traditions.
Early last year the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz issued a Royal Decree establishing a new annual national holiday on February 22 to commemorate the foundation of the first Saudi State in 1727 by Imam Mohammed bin Saud.

Through Chinese mediation, the governments of Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed on March 10 to reestablish diplomatic relations and reopen embassies after years of bitter rivalry in the Middle East region. A wonderful display of light and colour and the party tones of the Caribbean were at the center of the Carnival celebrations at Trinidad and Tobago house in Pretoria. Dr Lovell Francis, High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago to South Africa hosted a party to remember as guests were also treated to flavourful foods prepared by the Trinidad and Tobago embassy staff. Dancing and parading guests experienced a “capsule” - as Francis called it - of the renowned carnival that happens annually in the Caribbean nation.

Two billion years ago, a giant meteor crashed into the southern tip of Africa, creating the largest impact crater on Earth. The crater, 300km in diameter, is centered at the Vredefort Dome on the outskirts of the quaint town of Parys in the Free State, South Africa. The Dome can be seen on hikes or guided tours or even as you free fall from the sky at Skydive Parys. The town, situated just an hour and a half outside of Johannesburg and Pretoria with its historical significance and small town culture, is an ideal tourist destination for those traveling to and living in the hub of Gauteng.
