Acceptance

The compassion, generosity and empathy displayed during this global corona virus pandemic are inherent traits of human nature. The acts of charity and kindness have shown the collective good that humanity can achieve. The commitment and dedication of those on the frontline ensuring essential services proceeded continuously have been super human.
There has also been reactionary fickleness and selfish thoughtlessness, some of it mischievous and uncalled for. Some have persisted on the rhetoric of saving lives akin to having a God complex and others have manipulated the situation for commercial gain.
Whatever the perspective, the human sense of humour has certainly made an untenable situation bearable. The countless memes, one-liners and comedy has certainly helped lighten the situation and alleviate the fear mongering and challenge the misinformation and disinformation.
The current globally recorded facts indicate 280 million people have tested positive, 5.5 million people have died, over 8 billion vaccines have been administered and the recovery rate has hovered around the 90% mark. The scientific evidence being gathered from the latest Omicron strain shows high infection rates, milder symptoms, less hospitalisation and lower death rates. It is also an indication that the virus may be losing its potency.
In acceptance we will find solace.Whether we encourage, or criticise, or choose to be silent, or speak out expressing our joys and fears, holding on to grudges, seeking revenge, or allowing forgiveness to heal, these are the traits that spark the imagination, that grants the openness to experience new things, to rethink our behaviour and to change it. We are well aware of the battle for constant balance in our lives and the infinite variables and choices that are moderated by our acceptance.
