2nd Free Palestine Boxing Tournament
|
 The Embassy of the State of Palestine in cooperation with the Ahmed Kathrada foundation, BDS South Africa, the Johannesburg Boxing Organization and the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation organized the 2nd Free Palestine Boxing Tournament at Orlando Communal Hall in Soweto on Saturday, 16 September 2017. Various boxing clubs participated in the tournament.
The tournament took place in Soweto for the second year in a row because Soweto is a symbol of resistance to apartheid and a symbol of inspiration for the Palestinian people to continue their just struggle against the Israeli occupation for freedom and independence.

V Course of the African School of Forensic Humanitarian Action
|
 Ambassador of the Argentine Republic Mr Javier Esteban Figueroa hosted a reception on the occassion of the completion of the V Course of the African School of Forensic Humanitarian Action.
22 Experts from Burundi, Central African Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, Georgia, Kenya, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania and Zimbabwe have successfully completed the 2017 course. Ambassador Figueroa said that he hoped the course has constituted a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences and the creation of peer networks that will enrich the delegates work in their respective countries.
Introducing the School Ambassador Figueroa said, "Since its inception in 2012, the African School of Humanitarian Forensic Action –the brainchild of the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team- aims to set a continental standard for multidisciplinary forensic investigations -jointly with the UP, the ICRC and the Argentine Fund for Cooperation- not only for Human Rights violations and criminal cases but also for natural disasters.

SA welcomes German companies’ continued investment

 South Africa has welcomed the vote of confidence shown by Germany’s continued investment in the South African economy.

In 2016, Germany moved up to second place as the largest global export market for South African goods and remained South Africa’s second largest import market, cementing Germany’s position as South Africa’s second largest global trading partner overall.
“Clearly we are doing things right, as total merchandised trade between our countries increased by 20.3% last year, with South Africa having managed to narrow its trade deficit with Germany by almost 8%,” Minister Dlodlo told those at the celebrations.
Over 600 German companies are present in South Africa, sustaining approximately 100 000 direct jobs.
“We warmly welcome the continued vote of confidence by leading German companies to expand their investments in South Africa. We look forward to even further improvement in this regard, and remain available to assist potential German investors in developing further investment opportunities in our country through our various investment promotion initiatives,” said Minister Dlodlo.
