Beefing up relations between Australia and South Africa
|
 The Australian High Commissioner to South Africa, Mr Adam McCarthy launched a new collaborative research project between Australia and South Africa to benefit small-scale and emerging beef farmers on 4 November 2015 at the Agricultural Research Council (ARC). This important new research project aims to directly link poor beef farmers with major South African supermarkets, improve the supply of high quality beef, and to improve the productivity and profitability of the farmers. The launch featured a brief cooking demonstration of grass-fed beef by Kamini Pather, Masterchef SA Season 2 winner and host of food-travel show Girl Eat World, together with Renae Smith from Masterchef Australia 2014.

 Ambassador Al-Alawi of Iraq in South Africa hosted the first Iraqi Cultural Week in South Africa from 2 November 2015. Traditional musical performances, a documentary and a photographic exhibition of ancient artefacts were part of the program.

The Turkish War of Independence has inspired many nations

 Ambassador Kaan Esener of Turkey in South Africa (r) pictured with South African Minister of Tourism Mr Derek Hanekom at the celebration of the 92nd Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Turkey. Addressing guests at the reception Ambassador Esener said that Turkey faces many challenges and it mourns the loss of its sons and daughters to acts of terror. He however said that standing united Turkey can overcome these challengers.
"If South Africa defines itself as the cradle of mankind, then Turkey takes pride in inhabiting the geography that can be defined as the cradle of civilisation," said Ambassador Esener.
Speaking of strengthening bilateral relations between Turkey and South Africa Ambassador Esener said that tourism was at the top of the list with South Africans easily obtaining free tourist visas to Turkey and flying direct from Joburg and Cape Town to Istanbul.

Algiers to Cape Town should be free and master of its own destiny

 Ambassador of Algeria Mr Abd-El-Naceur Belaid and Dr Thibedi Ramontja, Director General of the Department of Mineral Resources of SA are pictured toasting to the 61st Anniversary of the Algerian Revolution of the 1st November 1954. Addressing guests Ambassador Belaid spoke about the close ties between Algeria and South Africa asying, "The celebrated words of the late MANDELA during a gathering following his release from jail 'Algeria is my country' are, I think, among the nicest tributes to the symbiosis which has ever characterized the extremely close and unfailing bonds between my country and South Africa, between the Algerian and South African peoples."

African and European Union leaders ended a two-day Summit on migration, agreeing on a number of measures, “to decisively and together manage migration flows in all its aspects.” They concluded a two-day Summit in Valletta, Malta, which culminated in their committing to address the root causes of irregular migration and forced displacement, by considering migration and mobility in their development, programming and implementation strategies.
According to the final declaration of the Valletta Summit on Migration, the common response of the African and European leaders will, among others, primarily focus on reducing poverty, promoting peace, good governance, the rule of law and respect for human rights, on supporting inclusive economic growth through investment opportunities and the creation of decent jobs, thus rekindling hope notably for the African youth.
