 In accepting her Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, Mrs Solani Mirriam Mazibuko pointed out that the values of respect, kindness, generosity and family were common in all cultures.
On 29 April 2014, the Government of Japan announced the Spring Conferment of Decorations on foreign nationals. Mrs. Solani Mirriam Mazibuko, Director of Orlando Children’s Home of Soweto, was conferred with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays for her contribution to promoting friendly relations between Japan and the Republic of South Africa. Mr. Yutaka Yoshizawa, the Ambassador of Japan, presented the decoration to Mrs. Solani Mirriam Mazibuko at his official residence on Thursday, 3 July 2014.

Dr Pierre Lemonde, Cooperation and Cultural Action Attache for Science and Technology at the Embassy of France in South Africa pointed out a unique feature of the higher education landscape in South Africa. He siad that it is his first experience which includes the broad spectrum from developmental to high-end, sophisticated, established research intitutions. The Embassy of France in South Africa offered 25 bursaries to South African graduates this year to pursue their Master’s studies in France from September 2014, in various fields including Finance, Economics, Engineering, Public Relations, Media, Business, Journalism, Fashion, International Relations and Political Science, Biology and Sport Science.
