‘It’s living history’ said Her Excellency Norma Taylor Roberts at a farewell function in her honour. She was referring to her tenure in South Africa as Jamaica’s High Commissioner. She said it was a special posting in which she experienced a bond of two nations whose historic relations was forged in the ideologies of freedom.

She expressed her gratitude to all including the staff at the High Commission, her colleagues in the diplomatic community, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) and all those that made her posting special. She also urged them to persevere and support the transforming and maturing South African freedom and democracy.

Georgian Transparency

 

The entire traffic police division was fired and for two weeks there were no traffic police on the streets of Georgia, explained Beka Dvali, Georgian Ambassador to South Africa. He was speaking at the College of Law at the University of South Africa (UNISA) on Georgia: Transformational Reforms, Foreign Policy and Emerging Partnerships in Africa. Police reforms were the first to be targeted in Georgia.  Police stations were renovated and redesigned and made of glass to be literally transparent. That one can stand outside and look into the police station is one of the innovative ways the Government of Georgia has endeavoured to inconvenience bribery and corruption.  The links between Georgia and Africa go back to pre-historic times.

Nigeria and Sri Lanka enjoy strong diplomatic relations
