Free Health Care and Free Education –A Cuban example for South Africa

‘Mandela and Fidel’ a documentary by acclaimed film producer Estela Bravo was screened at the University of South Africa (UNISA) Muckleneuk Campus in Pretoria as a celebration of South Africa’s 20 Years of Democracy and the 20th Anniversary of Cuba - South Africa diplomatic relations.
Historic relations between Cuba and the people of South Africa are rooted in Cuba’s support for the liberation movements’ fight for freedom and justice. This remarkable relationship has grown into a vibrant and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations since formal diplomatic relations were established on May 11 1994 by Nelson Mandel and Fidel Castro, explained Carlos Fernandez de Cossio , Ambassador of Cuba to South Africa.
“The people of Cuba hold a special place in the hearts of South Africans,” said Prof Mandla Makhanya, Vice Chancellor of UNISA, saying 20 years of international relations and democracy comes into sharp focus on the eve of the fifth democratic elections in South Africa.

Sri Lanka - SA enable Air Services

On Friday, 21 February 2014, Transport Minister, Honourable Dipuo Peters, together with the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Nimal Siripala De Silva, signed a groundbreaking Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) in Tshwane, further strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The two Ministers were accompanied by delegations from their respective countries. Sri Lanka is one of the countries from South Asia identified to pursue a review of air services arrangements and renegotiations of Bilateral Air Services Agreements.
