Italian Embassy in Colombo promotes reconciliation paintings

Celebrating the Beauty of Diversity an exhibition of artwork promoting peace and reconciliation has gone on show at Casa Serena Art Gallery Colombo. It is yet another important cultural cooperation event in the continuous important partnership between Italy and Sri Lanka. Through incredible stories of reconciliation the painting exhibition brought together ten of the finest painters belonging to multi ethnic and multi religious backgrounds from North to South of Sri Lanka. Genre and landscape painting captured the transformative impact of the war to peace and the deepening awareness of issues surrounding emancipation and the need for reconciliation.

CKM group from Sri Lanka to perform in South Africa
The Sri Lankan group CKM will be performing in South Africa in February. The members are part of an ethnic group in Sri Lanka who are partially descended from 16th century Portuguese traders and the African slaves who were brought by them to work as labourers and soldiers to fight against the Sri Lankan kings.
10 000 Scholars benefit from donation of stationery
The DIPLOMATIC & EXECUTIVE NETWORKING CENTRE and its sponsors, in collaboration with publishers of FOREIGN EXCHANGE THE DIPLOMATIC SOCIETY, again came to the aid of rural schools in Mpumalanga Province by distributing 10 000 much needed calendars and piles of stationery and writing pads to needy scholars and teachers at the start of the school year for the second year running.

Australian visit strengthens relationship with South Africa
 Australia’s Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs Richard Marles has completed a visit to South Africa as part of the first high-level government visit to Africa since Australia’s election to the United Nations Security Council in October.
“South Africa is Australia’s largest trade and investment destination in Africa,” Mr Marles said. “The relationship is underpinned by growing political-level engagement and strong people-to-people links in sport, education, culture, tourism and business.”
