1 October 2024

An inaugural Business and Investment Round Table is scheduled to take place on 25th October 2024 at 12pm at Radisson Blue Gautrain Hotel, Sandton in South Africa. It will be hosted by the leader of the Invest Hong Kong delegation Mr Herman Tse joined by the Consul General Mojalefa Mogono accredited to South Africa’s Consulate General in Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR.

The aim of this Round Table is to explore investment opportunities, enhance bilateral economic relations between South Africa and Hong Kong as well as opportunities for the South African business sector in doing business with Hong Kong. This is critical in reinforcing bilateral relationships and in fostering a collaborative environment where businesses from both regions can thrive. Hong Kong offers diverse financial services and investment opportunities which are essential in attracting investment to South Africa.

Hong Kong as a gateway to the region and as a super-connector which provides easy access to major markets across Asia and beyond provides an advantage for South African businesses wishing to do business in and with Hong Kong, broader China and the region. This is imperative to strengthening the trading flow and enhancing business opportunities and provides a platform to expand both sides’ cooperative boundaries and reinforce the strong bond and contributes to growth and innovation, promoting mutual prosperity. These actions also align with the China-African Cooperation Action Plan launched in September this year. Various South African business stakeholders will be invited to form part of this discussion.

This Round table forms part of the program of the visit by the Consul General Mojalefa Mogono who will be joining the Asian-African legal consultative organization (AALCO) and Invest Hong Kong on a visit scheduled to take place from 19- 28 October 2024 which will commence in Egypt on 19- 21 October 2024 and end in South Africa on 21- 28 October 2024.
