Traditional Leaders from the Mpondo Kingdom, Mpumalanga and North West enhance Royal relations and forge strategic partnerships

Nkosi Jongilanga Sigcau, Chairperson of the Alfred Nzo Local House of Traditional Leaders will lead a delegation of chiefs to the North West and to Mpumalanga from 4-9 March 2023.

The purpose of the visit is to enhance the already existing relations as well as to establish new relations between Kingdoms. In Mpumalanga on 4 March 2023 the delegation will be received by His Majesty King Makhosonke Mabhena of the Ndebele Kingdom and will attend the King Silamba Commemoration. The relations between the Mpondo and Ndebele nations were established in 2008 to share and exchange knowledge and information on culture and heritage as well as to support one others' cultural initiatives.

North West has a big population of amaMpondo who are settled there, most of whom work in the mines. The delegation will meet on 7-9 March 2023 with the Traditional Leaders of North West including ContraleSA North West, Royal Bafokeng King Leruo Moletlegi, Nkosi Philane of Bakgatla and Nkosi Zibi of the Khayakhulu Traditional Council in the North West to establish strategic partnerships and identify areas of co-operation. King Leruo Moletlegi of the Royal Bafokeng in 2006 attended the launch of the Mpondo Culture and Heritage Festival as well as the 10 years commemoration of the late ANC liberation activist Nkosi Ntsikayezwe Sigcau father to Nkosi Jongilanga Sigcau and son to the late King Botha Sigcau.

It is important for Traditional Leadership to work together, playing a significant, proactive and progressive role to make a difference in the lives and livelihoods of their communities whilst preserving the history, culture and heritage.

Princess Phumla Nonxuba and Princess Nonkululeko Mahlangu paid a courtesy call on behalf of the South African Royal Princesses Network to the Turkish Embassy in Pretoria to pledge solidarity to the Turkish government and people as well as to convey a message of condolences to the families of victims of the earthquake. They were received by Ambassador Ayşegül Kandaş
On the 3 March 2023, they will pay a courtesy visit to the Turkish Ambassador Ayşegül Kandaş to express their condolences to the Government and the families of the earthquake victims who lost their lives as solidarity and unwavering support during this challenging time. Nkosi Jongilanga Sigcau has established strategic relations with the Embassy of Turkey that will see Turkey investing in some projects in the Mpondo Kingdom as well as on cultural exchanges. Ambassador Ayşegül Kandaş attended the Mpondo Culture and Heritage Festival in September 2023 hosted by Nkosi Jongilanga Sigcau at Lwandlolubomvu Great Place.
