Belarus – South Africa business forum

On November 21, 2013, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry held the Belarus – South Africa business forum and business matchmaking session for business community representatives from Belarus and South Africa within the framework of the third session of the Belarusian — South African Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

The business forum was attended by Mr.Valentin Rybakov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Mr.Mandisi Mpahlwa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to the Russian Federation and to the Republic of Belarus with residence in Moscow, Ms.Elizabeth Thabethe, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry of South Africa, Mr.Vladimir Ulakhovich, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr.Xolani Qubeka, Black Business Council CEO, the representatives of the National Agency for Investment and Privatization, the Department of Trade and Industry of South Africa, business communities of the two countries.

During the business forum and the business matching session the prospects of bilateral trade and economic cooperation were discussed. The representatives of the Belarusian enterprises and organizations and South African companies held bilateral talks on the matters of the establishment of assembly plants and regional networks for the promotion of Belarusian wheel and road construction equipment, trucks and tractors in RSA, the establishment of joint ventures for the production of fertilizers, the supply of equipment for grain storages, the organization of electronic exchange trade, education and internship of the RSA specialists in Belarus, as well as the export of various goods and services to South Africa .

In order to facilitate the establishment of mutually beneficial relations in the sphere of trade and economy the participants signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Black Business Council.
