South Africa took part in 10th Edition of FISAHARA

Naomi Mokhele-National film and video foundation South Africa, Botshelo Motuba- Film Producer, Milly Moabi-Film Producer, Simon Moeketsi- South African Embassy Algiers, Prof. Keorapetse Kgositsile – Department of Arts and Culture, Thapalatse Segoati – Department of Arts and Culture and Wesley Crowley – South African Embassy Algiers


South Africa took part in the Western Sahara International Film Festival (FISAHARA). The Film festival now in its 10th year took place in the most remote refugee camp of Dakhla in the Algerian desert. The South African Film Mayibuye i Western Sahara produced by Milly Moabi explores the history of solidarity between South Africa and Western Sahara and draw parallels between their respective struggles for freedom, Mayibuye i Western Sahara won the first prize at the festival.

The White Camel is the festival’s highest prize and it was awarded to Ms Moabi. Ms Moabi donated the camel to the refugee family who hosted the South African delegation during the festival.
