The Embassy of Philippines in South Africa undertook a cooking demonstration of Filipino food at the Food Lover’s Market in Woodlands Boulevard Mall in Pretoria on 10 August 2013 in the Embassy’s continuing efforts to promote Filipino culture in South Africa.

The cooking demonstration of Filipino food was envisioned by Madame Yoko Ramos-Vingno, the Ambassador’s wife, and used Filipino condiments and mixes contributed by Mama Sita Corporation.

The demonstration was well-attended by shoppers at the Food Lover’s Market as well as members of the Filipino communities of Southern Africa and featured dishes such as beef caldereta and pork and chicken inihaw.  The cooking demonstration was done by Ms. Maribelle F. Manlangit, Secretary to the Ambassador and Embassy Cultural Officer.

After the cooking demonstration and subsequent food tasting of the prepared dishes, many of the attendees complimented the flavors of the dishes and expressed interest in using the Mama Sita products featured in the demonstration.
