Her Excellency Park Geun-hye sworn in as Eleventh President of South Korea

President Park Geun-hye was sworn in as the first female President of South Korea in Seoul. She assumes office as the eleventh President of South Korea serving the eighteenth Presidential term.   President Park Geun-hye hails from an illustrious family which has contributed tremendously to the economic development of South Korea. She is the daughter of late Park Chung – Hee, the third President of South Korea from 1963 to 1979. President Park Geun-hye was the Saenuri [New Frontier] Party nominee at the last Presidential election held on 19th December 2012. She was also the Chairwoman of the Grand National Party (GNP) twice between 2004 and 2006 and between 2011 and 2012.  She received her bachelor's degree in electronic engineering from Sogang University in 1974. President Park Geun-hye   has received honorary doctoral degrees from Chinese Culture University in Taiwan, Sogang University , KAIST  and Pukyong National Universities. She was first elected to the assembly as a Grand National Party candidate from the Dalseong, Daegu electoral district in 1998. She was re elected three more times from Dalseong ,Daegu  electoral district between 1998 and 2008. President Park Geun-hye is the elder sister of Park Seoyeong and Park Ji-man.
