British and SA National Libraries collaborate

A renewal of a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Library of South Africa, Pretoria and the British Library Board, London was concluded on 18 February 2013 in Pretoria during the visit of Baroness Tessa Blackstone, Chair of the British Library Board during her visit to South Africa.
The areas identified for collaboration were:
1. Facilitation of the participation of experts of their respective institutions in meetings, training courses, workshops, seminars, exhibitions, events, and conferences taking place in the respective institutions, in various fields of mutual interest.
2.Exchange of experience with specialists in the area of digitization, e-publications, preservation, conservation, cataloguing, technical information and public services.
3, Exchange of the findings of research undertaken by the respective Parties.
4. Cooperation in the field of research, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and librarianship in order to share the knowledge of modern technologies;
5.Facilitation of reciprocal official visits of writers, experts and officials of their respective institutions; and
6.Exchange of digital exhibits reflecting the cultural heritage of both countries.
