Sri Lanka and South Africa explore business opportunities

High Commissioner Ratnavale addresses the delegates


The High Commission of Sri Lanka to South Africa in conjunction with the Capital City Chamber hosted a business delegation from the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
High Commissioner Ratnavale highlighted Sri Lanka as well positioned, dynamic economy with access to a market of 1,3billion due to its Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with both India and Pakistan. He also pointed out the strategic geographical location of Sri Lanka in South Asia as an ideal hub for logistics and finance.
The booming tourism sector has created a need for infrastructure especially with regard to hotel accommodation and other amenities.
Riaan Labuschange of the City of Tshwane presented on the Capital Metropolitan which is considered the third largest city in the world in terms of land area. As the city of Governments all 32 departments and ministries are headquartered here. Also included are the 138 foreign missions, the United Nations and other international organisations.
The Chambers consulted on a number of potential opportunities from raw materials, agriculture, technology and energy among others.
