Golfing in Malaysia

High Commissioner H.E. Mr. Thami Mseleku with the five champions, organisers and sponsors

The South African High Commission to Malaysia recently participated in the Malaysian World Golfers Championship (WGC) National Grand Final event. The prestigious event was preceded by nine WGC qualifying rounds in which golfers from all over Malaysia competed to earn a spot in the final.

The National Grand Final saw 45 golfers converge on the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club to battle their way to be among the five champions that would represent Malaysia in the World Golfers Championship Final 2012 in Durban, South Africa from 27 October to 3 November 2012.

The South African High Commission sponsored prizes for the event and set up booths where tourism and promotional items were handed out, South African products were available for sampling and literature on South Africa was available for viewing. Additionally, promotional videos on South Africa and in particular KwaZulu-Natal were transmitted from the main stage and from a screen at the booth and proudly South African music played.
