On 10 July 2012, as part of promoting people- to- people cooperation, H.E. Ambassador S.R (Zeph) Makgetla hosted a musical concert with the South African boys choir known as “Simply Blue” at the beautiful garden of the Official Residence.  “Simply Blue” is a vocal choir made up of a group of senior boys from Bishops College, Cape Town.  The choir was on its way to Thessaloniki, in northern Greece, to participate in the 30th World Conference on Music Education.

The group sang a catchy mix of cappella songs, ranging from traditional South African, contemporary, as well as songs from the past, in the form of Beatles, Beach Boys and Elvis Medleys. The sweltering heat of an Athens evening did not deter them in the slightest from rendering a wonderful performance. The choir did South Africa proud, in front of an audience of diverse nationalities and cultures. The concert was attended by more than 200 people including members of diplomatic corps and friends of South Africa in Greece.
