Mahumani/Nkomo Heritage and Multi-Cultural Festival

From just a Tsonga Culture Day to a celebration of Southern African cultures, the 10th Mahumani Annual multi Culture Day is on again this year.

The festival will take place on Saturday 06 October 2012 at Nkomo Village in the Greater Giyani Local Municipality, Limpopo Province South Africa from 10am to 17pm. Amongst royalty and dignitaries gracing the event will be several Tsonga, Venda, Pedi, Sotho, Swazi, Zulu, Ndebele, Xhosa, Afrikaans, western cultures, senior government officials and international visitors from as far as Botswana and neighbouring Mozambique. The event is a melting pot of southern African cultures and a nation building programme with multiple benefits to communities and various partners.

The Mahumani Multi - Culture Celebration is an initiative spearheaded by Hosi A.K. Mahumani (Adv) and is aimed at promoting cultural diversity, human rights culture and social cohesion through inter-cultural activities including music, dance, poetry, arts and crafts exhibition and traditional games.

The 2012 theme for the celebration is “Culture and livelihoods, a modern socio-economic story”. This theme challenges local people whose lifestyles are largely influenced by their beliefs, tradition and indigenous norms and values, to begin to recognize the economic benefits that are presented by the very environment they live in, the resources they take for granted and the forgotten practices of the their ancestors.

Everybody including the media is welcome to come and partake in the cultural activities awaiting participants of this event on Saturday says “His Majesty Hosi A.K Mahumani”.

Through this media statement, His majesty, Hosi A.K Mahumani is also calling for moral and financial support and partnerships to make this and other programmes in his communities a success.
