Renewable Energy conference

Wind energy has had the a 1st mover advantage in India, this according to  Mr. Deepak Puri, Co Chair of CII National Committee on Renewable Energy and of Moser Baer India Ltd. He was speaking at the Renewable Energy Conference in Johannesburg organized by the High Commission of India in SA and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The delegation from India included the CEO’s from the energy sector  as well as Mr. Gireesh B. Pradhan, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Also present was South African Minister of Energy Dipuo Peters and other key speakers representing the Finance, Legal and Regulatory organisations.

The session on wind energy highlighted South Africa’s expertise in developing and producing the mast and turbines for the wind generators and the abilty to harness this natural energy resource.

The similarities and the historic ties between India and South Africa created the ideal opportunity for the two countries to collaborate as they face the similar challenges with regard to energy.
