Unlock Your Mind Using Martial Arts

Masako Osada, Programme Director and Buster Sefor

“Is Your Mind Your Greatest Asset or Greatest Enemy? Learn How to Unlock Your Mind Using Martial Arts " was the title of the seminar presented by Mr Buster Sefor at the GIBS Centre for Japanese Studies on 22 June 2012.

Buster Sefor, President of the South African Kendo Federation presented on "The Stuck Mind” - how to unlock your mind using martial art as a way of thinking. The seminar drew from the philosophy of the famous Japanese monk and zen master, Takuan Soho, who advised the swordsmen of the day on the influence of the mind over their swordsmanship. His teachings from the early part of the 17th century resonate with corporate warriors of the present time and are relevant to both one’s personal and business life.

The presentation demonstrated how your mind, considered your greatest asset, can also be your greatest enemy and become a barrier to insight, spontaneity and your potential.

Buster Sefor is the President of the South African Kendo Federation and a 6th dan kendo (Japanese sword-fighting) master. Since 1992, he has presented numerous workshops in the areas of personal growth and development as the founder of Quest Seminars. In 2011, Mr Sefor was conferred the Order of the Rising Sun by the Emperor of Japan.
