POPULAR SOUTH AFRICAN PAVILION AT THE PHILIPPINES INTERNATIONAL BAZAAR

South African Ambassador Agnes Nyamande-Pitso welcomes the Secretary (Minister) of the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs,  Albert Del Rosario to the mission’s stand and for the handing over of Protea bouquets to guest of honours.

“Proudly South African” - Embassy staff at the mission’s stand during the International Bazaar, ready to sell our very popular Proteas – which sold out within 2 hours all in aid of local charities.

Five South African wine companies joined the South African Embassy booth and Filipinos enthusiastically tasted and bought some of our top wines.

Proteas flown in by the South African Embassy in Manila were one of the most popular products at the International Bazaar (IB) in Manila on Sunday, 20 November 2011, selling out within 2 hours. Ambassador Nyamande-Pitso and staff, in partnership with 8 companies that are importers and distributors of South African products, proudly hosted the Pavilion under the “South Africa – It’s Possible” logo. Other products sold by the partner companies included crafts & curios, juice & wines, tea, food products like boerewors, biltong & chutney to name a few.

The Pavilion was visited by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Albert Del Rosario and his wife, Mrs Gretchen Del Rosario who is also the Chairperson of the IB. The Ambassador presented bouquets of Proteas to the special guests, Mrs Balsy Aquino - Cruz, the sister of President Aquino and Mrs Mila Drilon, wife of Senator Franklin Drilon. The IB is organised annually by the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in co-operation with about 50 diplomatic missions and 100 local companies in aid of various charity projects in underserved communities in and around Manila.

The SAE pavilion has become an important marketing tool for the mission to showcase SA products and successfully brand South Africa.  The Mission’s  participation, in conjunction with the companies that import South African products, is making a visible and major contribution to the charity funds raised by the IB foundation.
