Tell Your Stories

27 August 2018

High Commissioner of Canada H.E Sandra McCardell and the Ambassador of Switzerland H.E. Helene Budliger Artieda co-hosted a Women’s Day lunch on August 8th at the Official Residence of Canada with guest speaker Sisonke Msimang, well-known South African writer who recently published her book “Always Another Country – A memoir of exile and home”, a fascinating and compelling story of her life in many countries and her love of South Africa.

Her writing focuses on race, gender and democracy. Sisonke spoke to gathered women leaders from business, civil society, media and academia about ‘Finding The Courage of your Voice” – she inspired with her passion and made everyone laugh with her sense of humour.

High Commissioner McCardell spoke about Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP) and Canada’s proudly feminist foreign policy and the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment in order to support peace and security and address poverty and other global challenges.

The Ambassador of Switzerland H.E. Helene Budliger Artieda spoke on the importance of women coming together, building each other and facing the challenges that women face as one.
