Oman Riders for Peace

25 October 2017

In September 2017 the Oman Riders, an adventurous group of motorcycle riders left the South African Embassy in Muscat, Oman.

Their mission was to ride 15000km through the Gulf and Africa to the Embassy of Oman in Pretoria, South Africa.

After an arduous journey of 25 days the riders arrived in Pretoria to a rousing welcome by the Sultanate’s Ambassador to South Africa HE Zakwani Mubarak.

Ambassador Mubarak acknowledged the bravery of the riders and applauded their efforts for championing people to people relations. Furthermore the riders journey created greater awareness of the Sultanate of Oman and its people as the riders engaged and interacted with the people of the nations, cities and villages as they passed through.

For the motorcycle enthusiast it was a demonstration of endurance and engineering performance. The bikes had traversed through some of the harshest terrains and experienced treacherous climate and weather conditions.

This is the third expedition that the Oman Riders have completed.  Germany and China were the other missions endeavours of the intrepid riders.
