Launching ties between Kakheti and Cape Winelands

On 14 June 2017, in South Africa’s Western Cape Province town of Stellenbosch, Mrs. Helena Von Schlicht, the Executive Mayor of Cape Winelands District Municipality signed the Agreement of Intent on cooperation with the Kakheti Region of Georgia. Mr. Irakli Kadagishvili, the Governor of Kakheti region will be the signatory of this Agreement from the Georgian side.

It is envisaged that the Agreement of Intent will promote the development of an active and meaningful relationship between the residents, business and community organisations of the Cape Winelands District Municipality and the Kakheti Region.

The above-mentioned cooperation has been initiated by the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of South Africa, South Africa-Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Honorary Consul of Georgia in Cape Town.

H.E. Mr. Beka Dvali, Ambassador of Georgia to South Africa, Mr. Alexander Khvtisiashvili, Director for International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Dr. Gerald Wolman, the honorary Consul of Georgia in Cape Town and Mr. Marius Heyns, the Chairman of South Africa-Georgia Chamber of Commerce attended the above-mentioned event and held a working meeting with the representatives of the Cape Winelands District Municipality.
