Minister Nkoana-Mashabane hosts interactive meeting of Resident Heads of Mission

Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane hosted the interactive meeting with Resident African Heads of Mission on 13 December 2016 at the OR Tambo building in Tshwane. Addressing the diplomats, Minster Nkoana-Mashabane briefly overviewed the international developments in 2016 and the current challenges on continental scale. Also in attendance were the Acting Director-General Mr Mahoai, Chief of State Protocol, Ms Losi-Tutu, Directors-General Mr Makaya and Mr Monyela.

“With regards to the continent’s progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the most important achievement has been the commitment by African countries to integrate and implement both the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063.” Minister Nkoana-Mashabane said.

 
Minister Nkoana-Mashabane thanked the diplomatic corps for their constant commitment and determined efforts to foster stronger relations between South Africa and the countries they represent, the Minister also stated that she looks forward to continue engaging actively with all the countries represented in South Africa.
Responding to the Minister’s address, Ambassador Bene M’Poko, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, said it is vital for diplomats to work closely with Business Leaders so that Africa can achieve the outcomes of Agenda 2063. Ambassador M’Poko on behalf of the Diplomatic Corps expressed appreciation for the Minister’s initiative and added that he hoped that in future such dialogue platforms will occur regularly.
