Cooperation in trade and investment between Chile and South Africa strengthened

Mr Edgardo Riveros, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile was in South Africa to stregthen relations between Chile and South Africa.

Ambassador of Chile, H.E. Carlos Parker held a reception in honour of the Vice Minister and his delegation on the 2nd of September at the Chilean Official Residence. The reception was attended by ambassadors and high commissioners accredited to South Africa as well as South African government officials.

Mr Edgardo Riveros, the Vice Minister co-chaired the 6th session of the SA-Chile Joint Consultative Mechanism with South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Luwellyn Landers in Cape Town on the 1st of September of 2016.

The 6th JCM was very successful and focussed on a ways of strengthening the bilateral relations between both countries. Discussions included multilateral cooperation and regional developments. Cooperation in trade and investment was central to the discussions as South Africa is a major foreign investor in Chile.

Vice Minister Riveros and his delegation also travelled for to Botswana on a working visit.
