Algeria participates in 12th Gcwala Ngamasiko Cultural festival 2016

2 June 2016

Algeria participated in the 12th Gcwala Ngamasiko Cultural festival 2016, held in Walter Sisulu Square in Soweto, on 29 May 2016 and organised by the African Cultural Music and Dance Association (ACUMDA).

Algeria was represented by a troupe of the Algerian National Ballet who performed three dances.

The first one was with all African participating troupes with the objective of showing African cultural unity in its diversity. The second one was performed with a South African troupe from Gauteng performing a traditional Tuareg dance and the last performance was individual where the Algerian troupe performed a rhythmic traditional Kabyle dance.

The South African public who attended the event was impressed by the richness of Algerian dances and traditional dresses.

Speaking at the event Ambassador of Algeria to South Africa, H.E. Mr Abd-El-Naceur Belaid reiterated the commitment of Algeria to the continental unity of the African peoples in all its dynamics.
