Pakistan Ladies Club organized Pakistan Mela in South Africa

The Pakistan Ladies Club (PLC), South Africa, organized their Annual Charity Event on 21 May, 2016 in Johannesburg. Entitled “Pakistan Mela”, the event consisted of food and tea stalls, games for children, kite flying, Pakistani music and other related activities. A large number of people from South Africa including members of the Pakistan community, media personnel, businesspeople, officials of the government of South Africa and officers of the Pakistan High Commission along with their families participated in the “Annual Charity Event.

High Commissioner of Pakistan, H.E. Najm us Saqib attended the Event as the Chief Guest.

The Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Ladies Club, Mrs. Madiha Saqib, briefed the High Commissioner on the activities of the Club undertaken in the past year and took pride in having a vibrant Pakistan Ladies Club in South Africa. Addressing the members of the Ladies Club, she offered every possible support in their endeavours to exhibiting Pakistani culture and traditions in the friendly country of South Africa.

President of Pakistan Ladies Club Mrs. Yasmin Manzar Kazmi, introduced the Executive Committee of the Club to the High Commissioner and informed that the membership of the Club was increasing by the day. Giving credit of organizing “Pakistan Mela” to all her members, Mrs. Kazmi expressed deep gratitude on the continued support and assistance rendered by the Pakistan High Commission ever since the establishment of this Club around two years ago. She announced that as in the past, all proceeds of the Charity Event would be gifted to the needy people of South Africa and Pakistan.  

Addressing the Ladies Club Members, the High Commissioner praised the Organisers for putting up a befitting Mela, exhibiting Pakistani culture. He stated that participation by the Pakistan High Commission Ladies and Pakistan Ladies Club members in various cultural related events organized in South Africa are helping in introducing values of Pakistan. “Such Charity events help in conveying friendly gestures and go a long way in creating better understanding about our proud value system,” the High Commissioner concluded.

Hundreds of people enjoyed the beautiful weather of South Africa in a relaxed Sunday and savoured a variety of Pakistani food items displayed at a number of stalls. The Pakistan community expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Ladies Club for putting up another memorable event in South Africa.
