IDSA donates to Gail Britoe Foundation

The International Diplomatic Spouses Association, recently made a delivery of over R12,000 worth of non-perishable food items to the Gail Britoe Foundation in Eldorado Park. This was their second delivery in four months.

IDSA is an organization comprised of spouses of Ambassadors and High Commissioners accredited to South Africa. One of its main purposes is to extend help to sustain various charitable organizations. In this regard, we focus on improving the lives of underprivileged groups, especially women and children.

In the past two years, IDSA donated over R250, 000.00 to ease the plight of women and children, through various charities in addition to donations of food, toiletries, and toys and hours of voluntary work.

Ruth Lenk, President of IDSA, learned about the Foundation from a newspaper article and decided that is was a cause worth supporting. She contacted Makro and Elliot Mobility, who both agreed to support the initiative. The supply truck was met with much excitement and the neighborhood children helped to offload the truck.

Started by Ensley Britoe and his neighbor Juanita Crawage three years ago on Mandela Day, the non-profit organization feeds more than 75 children from Extension 2 three times a week. It also provides food parcels to other needy residents. This donation will help feed the community for at least three months.

In order to assist other non-profits, IDSA will be hosting a fundraising Gala dinner on 21 May at the Royal Elephant Hotel in Centurion. For more information, you can contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
