French President Hollande on a three day State visit to India

French President Francois Hollande began a three-day visit to India on 24th January 2016.  The French President commenced his three-day India visit from Chandigarh. He was accompanied by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Rock Garden and the government museum and art gallery. 

During the visit to Chandigarh Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Francois Hollande visited the Capitol Complex nearby, which was designed by Chandigarh's founder-architect, Frenchman Le Corbusier, in the 1950s.  Later both leaders attended a forum of select CEOs to be followed by the India-France Business Summit

French President  Hollande will be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade in New Delhi  on Tuesday 26th January 2016.

According to the French Embassy in New Delhi website more than 750 French subsidiaries covering a broad spectrum of sectors are established in India and employ approximately 240,000 people. 

Since 2003, 10 to 30 new French establishments are being set up every year in India. 

The Regional Economic Department of the Embassy of France under the guidance of H.E. Mr. François Richier, Ambassador of France to India, took the initiative of forging cooperation agreements between EPI (Engineering Projects India Ltd.), a public company fully owned by the Government of India with nine French companies – Alstom Transport, CAN, Dassault, EDF Energies Nouvelles, Egis, Lumiplan, Pomagnalski, Schneider Electric and Thales.
