The Deputy Ministers acknowledged the close-knit bilateral relations between Norway and South Africa, and committed to further bolster both the political and economic ties between the two countries. Blue economy was highlighted as an area with excellent potential for further partnership.

Regional issues were also high on the agenda; South Africa and Norway agreed on the importance of the international community’s support to the peace agreement in South Sudan as well as contingency planning in case of further destabilisation in Burundi.

Migration was underlined as one of the crucial, transnational issues in today’s globalized world, as well as the new global security challenges; A coordinated international effort on these burning issues were hence stressed from both parties.
