At the invitation of Pakistan High Commission in Pretoria, Representatives of Pakistan-South Africa Association attended the Annual Community Convention at the High Commission of Pakistan, Pretoria. Portfolio holders from the cities and areas of Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, Limpopo, Mtatha and Free State participated in the Convention and briefed the High Commissioner of Pakistan and his team on a number of issues facing the large Pakistan Community based in South Africa. More than 100,000 Pakistanis are presently residing in South Africa.

The High Commissioner directed his Officers and Staff to take necessary measures in addressing the issues raised by the Pakistani Representatives while summarily resolving all those matters that needed the attention of the Mission. He assured the gathering of the continued support and assistance of the Government of Pakistan in addressing all legitimate issues facing the Community in South Africa.

The Community Representatives expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his Government for looking after the interests of Pakistani expatriates based in Southern Africa and in particular thanked the High Commissioner for his relentless efforts in uniting the entire Community under one roof and also for the continued assistance rendered to them by the High Commission.

The Convention also expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and properties by the devastating earthquake that hit Pakistan today. The participants vowed to offer any possible assistance to the affected families while extending condolences to the bereaved families.
