The Festival was opened by H.E Yeon Ho Choi, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea and Pluto Pannousis, President of the Open Window School on 9 October with the film “Royal Tailor” and attracted more than 500 guests.

The Korean Film and Food Festival is an initiative celebrating and showcasing Korean cinema and cuisine. Over the two days, movies of diverse genres were showcased. As an added bonus actors who have especially come from Korea, delighted local audiences with”BIBAP”, a non-verbal live performance based on Korea’s world famous dish, Bibimbap, which is rice mixed with vegetables and beef.

In addition to visual offerings, people enjoyed a variety of authentic Korean dishes such as Bulgogi, Japchae, kimbap, koreanstyle pancake, ginseng cuisine and Korean style braai.

The movie ‘The Royal Tailor’, is about Korean traditional clothes, Hanbok and to give people a better understanding of Hanbok, the Embassy held a photo exhibition displaying elegant Hanbok photos.

On 10 October, the second day of the festival, people experienced how to make a Korean traditional fan and Taeguk (symbol of Korea) pinwheel. South African Korean Pop lovers presented K-pop dance to the audience.
